Vehicles can be "fast filled" in a few minutes using compressed gas
stored in cascades of natural gas cylinders or fueled overnight
on a "timed fill" basis in about five to eight hours. Many
private fleet fueling stations use a combination of fast fill
and timed fill.
Public Refueling Locations
More than 35 stations offer convenient refueling in Ontario with many
more on the way. These public access sites offer self-service
and full -service refueling capabilities, and are located primarily
at existing retail refueling stations like Shell, Pioneer and
Sunoco.
There are also a number of "card-access only" sites that require a special credit card
or PIN to gain access. Unlike propane, you do not require a special license to refuel your
vehicle with natural gas. NGV stations have even been built for indoor refueling of transit
buses.
Refuel at Home or Work
Fill your NGV for $.50/L gasoline equivalent with at-home convenience.
Natural gas users can also take advantage of on-site refueling units located at a place of business or
right at home. The refueling units, known as Vehicle Refueling Appliances (VRA), are certified natural
gas compressors, manufactured by FuelMaker Corporation.
There are several VRA refueling system configurations available for use with in both commercial
and residential applications. Natural gas vehicles can be refueled overnight with a Time-Fill system,
or in 2-3 minutes with a Fast-Fill system.
*(installation and maintenance can be arranged through Enbridge Gas Distribution but is the sole responsibility of the customer).

Commercial Applications
Fleets Today, there are a number of conversion kits
available, in either bi-fuel or dedicated CNG models. If the purchase of a new vehicle is not
feasible, then consider converting your vehicles to natural gas. Natural gas and the
FuelMaker system can offer you immediate fuel
cost savings and increased productivity by refueling on-site.
Forklifts Natural gas is the cleanest fuel available today, reducing
emissions, such as carbon monoxide, by up to 95% over propane forklifts. This means no more headaches
for your workers, and no smell of propane. And because of the simple chemical makeup of natural gas,
your engine stays clean and tuned. Since natural gas is stored in permanently mounted tanks on your
forklifts, there is no lifting of heavy propane bottles, eliminating potential back injuries. If
you decide to switch to natural gas, the conversion is simple and easy, taking just a few hours.
By eliminating the need to remove fuel cylinders, you can reduce downtime. With the
FuelMaker Fast-Fill system, your
forklifts are filled in just a couple of minutes. No more waiting until
the cylinder is empty - you can add more fuel whenever you need it.
And, when compared to electric forklifts, there is significant cost savings associated with natural
gas forklifts. Also, valuable floor space is available for production rather than battery storage
and changing. Safety equipment is not required to be worn during the refueling process.
Residential Application
Consumer Vehicles Natural gas is the only fuel approved for home
refueling. Soon, consumers will be able to enjoy the convenience of refueling right at home.
The new home refueling appliance, known as Phill, will be available, in select locations, starting
in the Fall of 2003. Completely safe, the unit will be certified as an "appliance", similar to
the current FuelMaker VRA. This exciting
new product is flexible in that it can be installed outdoors or in your own garage.
